About the Role
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY MECHANICAL ENGINEERING in the FLUID/MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DIVISION of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as the Head Branch responsible for the planning, direction, coordination and review of all engineering and planning work performed by the branch.
- →You will work hand in hand with the Division Head in formulating technical plans for routine and unusual engineering problems and directs execution of technical and administrative programs.
- →You will be responsible for fully supporting the Equal Employment Opportunity Program, fostering the needs and aspirations of his/her subordinates.
- →You will establish long range plans, set priorities based on short term goals and schedules providing training and advice on work and administrative matters.
- →You will brief management officials on the progress towards achieving engineering project objectives.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess the basic requirements: BASIC REQUIREMENTS A.
- ✓Successfully completed a bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓Combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
- ✓The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: (I) Professional registration or licensure: Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
- ✓In addition to courses in the major and related fields, a typical college degree would have included courses that involved analysis, writing, critical thinking, research, etc.
- ✓These courses would have provided an applicant with skills and abilities sufficient to perform progressively more responsible work in the occupation.
- ✓Therefore, creditable experience should have demonstrated similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the work of the occupation.
