What You'll Do
- →This position is located in the African and Middle East Division, General & International Collections Directorate, Researcher and Collections Services.

- →The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustment for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area.
- →This is a supervisory, non-bargaining unit position.
- →Relocation expenses will not be reimbursed for the person(s) selected for this position.
- →As the Supervisory Librarian (Hebraic Section Head), you will: Supervise the work of the Section's staff, planning the work of the Section, including formulating goals and objectives and identifying opportunities for improvements in methods and procedures.
- →Plan, establish, and direct a library reference program to provide information about the region and oversee all reference services provided by the section's staff.
- →Collaborate with other Library staff and outside partners to develop and provide access to library resources through the web and by other means.
- →Make significant recommendations to change, interpret, and develop important and/or innovative policies affecting the process and funding of acquisitions from and relating to the area of the section's responsibility.
- →Oversee staff making authoritative recommendations for the acquisition of materials in all languages, formats, and subjects of relevance to the study of the region, including legal, audiovisual, and electronic items.
- →Plan and produce public programs, exhibits, seminars, and colloquia on the region, bringing attention to research developments and collections of interest to both scholars and the general public.
- →Review and analyze major issues in information research and dissemination as they apply to providing information about the region.
- →Prepare definitive and highly complex reports, responses to inquiries, and research products using knowledge as a recognized authority in field of expertise.

Requirements
- ✓Must have the ability to communicate in English AND Hebrew.

- ✓All librarians must meet the requirements for professional education in library science or possess equivalent experience and education.
- ✓Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree; or B.
- ✓A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience.
- ✓To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.
