About the Role
Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 10 Human Resources Management Service (HRMS) is seeking one Supervisory Human Resources Specialist Worklife/Benefit (WLB) and Reasonable Accommodation (RA) for a Temporary Promotion or Detail, Not to Exceed (NTE) one year. The incumbent will have oversight over the VISN 10 SSU Work Life Benefits team and assist station level teams with complex issues surrounding all areas of Work Life Benefits.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties and responsibilities for Supervisory Human Resources Specialist (ER/LR) but not limited to: Serves as the Work Life Benefits (WLB) and Reasonable Accommodations (RA) subject matter expert (SME) to advise employees, applicants for employment, supervisors, and members of management regarding laws, regulations, and procedures for WLB and RA.
- →Responsible for supervising and administering a VISN's Federal Worklife/Employee Benefits Program, including Federal Leave Programs, employee group life insurance, health benefits, Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) and other Worklife programs.
- →Coordinates with other areas of Human Resources, including Recruitment & Placement, Employee/Labor Relations, Retirement Shared Service Office (RSSO) and Workers Compensation to ensure that the employee is advised of their rights under benefit programs which may be appropriate to them.
- →Assists managers in determining the essential duties of a position and identifies barriers and possible modifications that would allow people with disabilities to perform said duties.
- →Provides managers with information on RA and needs assessments for applicants and employees with disabilities.
- →Ensures coordination with appropriate staff or Agency Officials to provide adjustment to job duties or the work environment that assists an individual with a qualified disability to perform the essential functions of his/her position.
- →Ensures the procurement of equipment, furniture and services is accomplished within prescribed timelines.
- →Ensures the accommodation meets the individual's needs.
- →Ensures Specialist consults with the employee and labor relations section to determine if/how RAs are affected by the master agreement (or local agreements) and develops strategies to operate the program in accordance with applicable labor laws and agreements.
- →Provides statistical reports with respect to processing requests for RA.
- →Monitors, analyzes, and regularly reports qualitative and quantitative RA data.
- →Ensures submission of annual reports, as prescribed in the VA Handbook 5975.1.
