About the Role

The VHA has adopted the HR Modernization and Shared Services Implementation, which is a new model of organizing and consolidating essential HR functions and services to the VISN level. This position is located within VISN 4 (legacy) Consolidated Classification Unit (CCU); temporary promotion not-to-exceed 1-year.

What You'll Do

  • The position is located at a network which is comprised of multiple Medical Centers and/or Health Care Systems with multiple Community Based Outpatient Clinics across two or more states.
  • The network employs thousands of clinical, professional, administrative, technical, and support staff and serves tens of thousands of Veterans annually.
  • Performs duties for all geographic areas served by the network as a member of a network Consolidated Classification Unit (CCU).
  • The selectee can work from their current duty location.
  • Major duties include, but may not be limited to: Supervision: Exercise independent judgement to administratively and technically direct and mentor the work of CCU subordinate direct reports.
  • Sets and implements the CCU's team goals.
  • Communicates performance and quality targets and ensures staff understand and are working to meet them.
  • Shares data, measurements and updates specific to team accomplishments as well as information relevant to all VISN, VHA, and VA employees.
  • Plans and assigns work.
  • Reviews and accepts, amends or rejects work done by project teams and subordinate staff.
  • Delegates tasks based on staff members' experience and competencies.
  • Classifying Position Descriptions and Classification Consistency: Reviews Position Descriptions (PDs) and classifies positions, explains findings through in- depth written evaluation statements, and signs Optional Form-08 for PDs, including one-of- a-kind, complex, rare, unusual and standardized PDs.
  • Assesses information related to the classification request from the customer and/or Human Resource (HR) staff on positions that are general schedule, wage system, leaders, or supervisors.
  • Makes fine distinctions in the proper crediting of factor levels and ultimate allocation of grade levels.
