This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13; the ND-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15. You will serve as the Branch Head for the Fleet Sensors and Cables Engineering Branch (Code 1535) of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as the Navy's principal Technical Direction Agent (TDA), Acquisition Engineering Agent (AEA), and In Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for the Hull Sensor Systems Program.
- →You will perform requirements definition, specification development, wet-end system engineering, design validation, subsystem test, risk mitigation, acquisition and lifecycle support for the Hull Sensor Systems Program.
- →You will maintain the Navy’s inventory of sonar transducer drawings and establish performance baselines for all sonar transducers in Fleet operation and in production.
- →You will maintain and operate the Technology Center for Cables and Connectors (TC3).
- →You will be responsible for ensuring that the branch provides timely delivery of high quality products, and responsible for the mentorship and leadership of branch members.
- →You will provide technical oversight for branch tasking and accurate costing for all tasks assigned to the branch.
- →You will act as the subject matter expert for difficult technical issues, and provide leadership for the development and implementation of comprehensive technical and process solutions.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
