About the Role
This position is part of the Haskell Indian Nations University, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), Department of the Interior (DOI). As a Supervisory Education Program Specialist (TRIO Director) you will be responsible for developing and implementing programming to promote student persistence and retention, student success and graduation.
What You'll Do
- →As a Supervisory Education Program Specialist (TRIO Director), GS-1720-11, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision: Providing supervision, leadership and mentoring of staff, tutors and student workers in the TRIO-Student Support Services (TRIO-SSS) program.
- →Implementing, managing, and supplementing strategic student support programing related to peer tutoring, summer bridge program, seminar course, first generation students, student employment and other initiatives.
- →Ensuring TRIO-SSS is responding to student issues and concerns; working closely with students to resolve all issues to ensure ongoing satisfaction and successful progress towards graduation.
- →Working collaboratively with all university departments to identify incoming students who need additional support; developing and monitoring academic plans accordingly.
- →Performing instruction duties, depending on need.
- →Assigned to a student caseload to create and manage academic success plans and ensure student progress.
Requirements

- ✓Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the U.S.
