About the Role
The Bureau of Labor Statistics measures labor market activity, working conditions, price changes, and productivity in the U.S. economy to support public and private decision making. This position is located in the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Office of Field Operations, Regional Office, Electronic Data Interchange Center (EDI)
What You'll Do
- →Serves as liaison between BLS national and regional offices and state agencies throughout the country communicating on a continuing basis with managers on matters involving the EDI Center as they relate to policies and procedures of the programs.
- →Works with local contract managers to continually assess status and address contract performance issues.
- →Establishes and communicates production goals and priorities for contract processing and collection operations; and evaluates contractor performance in meeting those goals.
- →Assists Center Economists in developing strategies for obtaining participation from respondents critical to multiple BLS programs or which have complex reporting or enrollment procedures; and identifying and developing enhancements to the processing systems.
- →Negotiates levels of cooperation with major firms addressing participation in BLS surveys from a multi-survey level.
- →This includes identifying the data needs and priorities of various programs in conjunction with regional office and national office staff.
- →Negotiations are conducted with high-level private sector officials, corporate officers, and legal advisors.
- →Monitors overall quality and timeliness of response on a regular basis and works with EDI Center economists to implement effective collection and processing strategies to improve response.
- →The position is responsible for on-site technical, operational, and quality control direction for the data collection program in the EDI Center.
- →The incumbent plans and exercises full supervisory authority for the federal staff in the EDI Center.
- →Make presentations to interested groups regarding BLS surveys and the EDI Center's role and services.
