This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →The CLS has full supervisory responsibility in a laboratory, in which the CLS supervises a staff of non-supervisory personnel including at least one GS-12 subordinate The laboratory performs at least one million standard billable tests annually.
- →Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The duties and responsibilities of the Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist includes but are not limited to the following: Is responsible for monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of performance.
- →Chooses methods for achieving work goals, objectives, and management strategies.
- →Plans and schedules on-going work.
- →Adjusts staffing levels or work procedures Creates, applies, and monitors reengineering and continuous performance improvement initiatives, both within the program and/or the organization.
- →Identifies, defines, and resolves issues associated with complex aspects of the data and ensures the validity of data in relation to the test systems.
- →Develops technical bulletins, procedures, training materials and other program materials, which ensure accreditation and compliance with all regulatory agencies concerning patient testing, result reporting, and proficiency testing.
- →Develops and implements corrective action when deficiencies are identified.
- →Holds COR certification and functions as the subject matter expert for all department's contracts.
- →Reconcile vendor charges in Integrated Fund Distribution, Control Point Activity, Accounting and Procurement (IFCAP) within the timeframe established in VHA Handbook 1730:1.
- →Performs the full range of supervisory duties.
- →Recommends appointment, plans, and assigns work, gives advice and counsel, and evaluates work of subordinates.
- →The CLS works assigned department bench duties including off-shifts, weekends, and holiday in the clinical laboratory when assigned and as the need arises.
- →Assures orientation, training, and competency assessment of staff.
