About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, New Orleans Field Office, Area Port of New Orleans, New Orleans, LA.

What You'll Do

  • Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S.
  • Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security.
  • This position starts at a salary of $129,258.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to$168,040.00 (GS-14, Step 10).
  • In this Supervisory position you will become a key member of a team of homeland security professionals overseeing one or more functional areas at the port of entry.
  • Typical work assignments include: Overseeing the full scope of OFO mission functions and operations in all areas of the assigned port to include, but not limited to, Passenger, Trade, or Tactical Operations.
  • Advising on the admissibility of travelers; import/export of cargo/merchandise and articles accompanying persons; international mail compliance; arrival/departure of vessels, aircraft, and vehicles involved in international trade; and/or anti-smuggling and terrorist activities, including apprehension and detention of those suspected of violating such laws and regulations.
  • Directing the development and deployment of local special operations aimed at addressing high-risk areas of concern and ensuring enforcement resources are dedicated to anti-terrorism and border security mission priorities.
  • Managing and ensuring consistent application of admissibility laws, regulations, and policies including the appropriate use of discretion, Expedited Removal, and other adverse actions.
  • Addressing potential integrity and ethics issues with employees, reviewing and approving serious disciplinary actions, identifying training and development needs of employees and subordinate managers; and finding ways to improve the efficiency and quality of the work directed.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S.
  • Motor Vehicle Operation: You must possess the Ability to operate a Government Owned Vehicle.
  • A valid, non-restricted driver's license is required.

  • Bargaining Unit: This position is not covered under the bargaining unit Security Clearance: You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI national security clearance for this position.
