Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Rio Grande Valley Sector, Targeting and Intelligence Division, Special Operations Detachment located in McAllen, TX. Additional selections may be made using this vacancy announcement. Further selections may also be made for additional organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
What You'll Do
- →This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally.

- →This position starts at a salary of $109,383.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $142,199.00 (GS-13, Step 10).
- →The Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (Special Operations Supervisor) serves as a Second-Line Supervisor as a law enforcement office position under 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) and 8412(d).
- →Duties and responsibilities include: Directing assignments of subordinate supervisors that perform all first-line Supervisory Border Patrol functions, station operations, and specialized units. .Managing, directing, and coordinating activities aimed at preventing the illegal entry of undocumented individuals into the United States by land, water, or air.
- →Seeking out and apprehending smugglers or undocumented individuals who are illegally in the United States.
- →Enforcing the criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality laws.
- →Analyzing local conditions of the station's area of responsibility or specialized assignment and deploying resources to mitigate any identified threat.
- →All normal functions involved in supervising personnel, including the approval of leave, resolving disciplinary problems, and preparing annual performance appraisals.
