THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY AIRCRAFT PILOT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0644000 and is part of the IL AASF 3, National Guard.
What You'll Do
- →As a SUPERVISORY AIRCRAFT PILOT (TITLE 32), GS-2181-14, you will function as the commander of an AASF.
- →Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Manage and direct the activities and functions of the AASF in support of the state mission which includes flight operations; proficiency training of aviators and crewmembers; aviation safety; and the organizational, direct support, and limited general support maintenance of all assigned aircraft.
- →Oversee the training operations of assigned or attached aircrew members through a subordinate supervisor.
- →Oversee the aviation maintenance functions through a subordinate Supervisory Aircraft Maintenance Test Pilot and ensure maintenance of assigned and supported aircraft in accordance with established procedures.
- →Make decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors.
- →Collaborate with heads of other units to negotiate, decide on, and/or coordinate work-related changes affecting other units not personally supervised.
- →Hear and resolve group grievances and serious employee complaints not resolved at a lower level.
- →Plans work to be accomplished by the organization which consists of 3 to 12 employees engaged in substantive work and additional wage grade employees.
- →Set priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work.
- →Assign work to subordinate units based on priorities, selective consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
- →Review, accept, amend or reject work which has been reviewed by subordinate supervisors.
- →Give advice, counsel, or instruction to supervisors and subordinate employees on both work and administrative matters.
- →Review serious disciplinary cases and disciplinary problems involving key employees and determine required action.
Requirements
- ✓IAW The Fair Chance Act, Agency employees may not request criminal history information at the point of initial application, upon receipt of an application, or prior to, during or after a job interview.
- ✓If an Optional Form (OF) 306, Declaration of Employment is submitted prior to the point of a conditional offer, questions related to background information section may not be asked.
- ✓This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement.
- ✓This is required prior to the effective date of placement.

- ✓Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- ✓Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

- ✓May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
- ✓May be required to successfully complete a supervisor probationary period.
- ✓This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
- ✓An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- ✓Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
