As a Supervisory AST Branch Chief within the Research and Engineering Directorate, you will provide technical and organizational leadership for branch personnel performing aerospace research engineering, and technology development activities. You will be responsible for workforce planning, employee supervision and development, strategic planning, and technical oversight supporting Agency programs, projects, and mission objectives.
What You'll Do
- →Performs a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.
- →Serves as Discipline Lead Engineer and Engineering Technical Authority for branch discipline areas and ensures the technical integrity of branch research and/or engineering products.
- →Provides technical and organizational leadership for branch personnel performing research, technology development, and/or engineering activities supporting Agency programs and projects.
- →Establishes performance expectations, develops employees, recognizes high performance, and implements corrective or disciplinary actions as appropriate.
- →Plans workforce allocation and advocates for resources needed to support strategic objectives, critical mission requirements, and succession planning.
- →Coordinates branch activities with program/project offices, external organizations, and Agency leadership to support mission execution and strategic partnerships.
- →Defines and assigns work and is responsible for branch technical products, including technical approach, schedules, and resource estimates.
- →Oversees implementation of technical processes, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure technical excellence and appropriate risk management.
- →Ensures employees have the resources and information necessary to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
- ✓If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
- ✓Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
- ✓Engineering degrees earned within the United States: Engineering degrees earned within the United States must be from a college or university that has at least one ABET accredited engineering program.
