About the Role
This position is in the Office of General Counsel (OGC) of the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board (Access Board), located in Washington, DC.
What You'll Do
- →As an Intern, your major duties may include: Conducting legal research as required related to physical accessibility of buildings and facilities, accessibility of information and communication technology (ICT), ethics, and privacy using Lexis and other online resources.
- →Evaluate legal documents for substantive legal sufficiency, including assessing the relevance and application of cited authorities and identifying legal issues or gaps.
- →Independently draft legal memoranda and written analyses addressing moderately complex legal issues, including interpretation and application of statutes, regulations, and case law.
- →Analyze and synthesize public comments and stakeholder input on rulemaking, identifying legal issues, trends, and implications for agency policy.
- →Review and analyze FOIA requests and responsive records, applies applicable exemptions, and develops legally supportable recommendations regarding disclosure determinations.
- →Conduct legal and factual analysis in support of investigations under the ABA, drafts correspondence, evaluates compliance issues, and recommends potential courses of action.

- ✓Must be a current student in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.
- ✓All applicants are REQUIRED to submit all undergraduate and graduate college transcripts, including transcripts from transfer schools no later than the date indicated in the announcement.
- ✓Transcripts may be unofficial at the time of application, but an official transcript is required if a job offer is extended.
- ✓You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship.
- ✓If you do not maintain eligibility and enrollment, you are ineligible for this program.
