About the Role

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS). OJP provides federal leadership, funding, and other critical resources to directly support law enforcement, combat violent crime, protect American children, provide services to American crime victims, and address public safety challenges, including human trafficking and the opioid crisis.

What You'll Do

  • The duties and responsibilities for a GS- 1530-13/14 generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Designs and manages one or more complex statistical data series or major components of a large-scale data series, including program development, project management, data collection and data analysis.
  • Conducts statistical analysis and applies this to a wide variety of situations to solve novel problems related to the research area supported.
  • Analyzes a variety of data sets using appropriate statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, Stata and R; applies statistical software to develop program code.
  • Develops new statistical methods and/or modifies existing data analysis methods.
  • Performs statistical analyses of agency program data.
  • Develops forecasting models; formulates statistical projections and trends for agency programs.
  • Advises and assists on format design, data monitoring, and related aspects of statistical methods and study design.
  • Presents statistical findings to a wide range of audiences including professional associations, agency representatives, and criminal justice researchers.

  • You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program.

  • If you are qualifying on foreign education, you MUST submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency.
