About the Role

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS). OJP provides federal leadership, funding, and other critical resources to directly support law enforcement, combat violent crime, protect American children, provide services to American crime victims, and address public safety challenges, including human trafficking and the opioid crisis.

What You'll Do

  • The duties and responsibilities for a GS- 1530-11/12 generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Participates in or manages complex data collection projects that employ a variety of collection methods.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements data collection projects related to cooperative and interagency agreements.
  • Generates tables and graphical displays of data that are well organized and follow the organization's data quality and style guidelines.
  • Analyzes a variety of data sets using appropriate statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, STATA or R; applies statistical software to develop program code.
  • Performs statistical verification including review of program code and text-to-table verification.
  • Prepares studies and technical reports for publication and dissemination.
  • Reviews Federal, state, and local data sources, including statistical and research reports to provide a framework for reference and comparison.
  • Consults with other professionals concerning on-going and established statistical studies or other projects where extensive methodological or subject-matter advice and interpretation is required.
  • Writes, modifies and/or edits statistical reports that include the analysis and evaluation of varied technical problems and issues.

  • You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program.
  • It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

  • If you are qualifying on foreign education, you MUST submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency.
  • All documentation must be in English or include an English translation.
