About the Role
This position is for a Statistician/Senior Statistician in the Division of Housing Mission and Goals (DHMG) at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). In this role, the incumbent will apply their expertise and skills to conduct tasks and projects related to the lifecycle of data, research, and analysis; and to lead production, dissemination, and promotion of accurate and reliable mortgage and housing data and statistics.
What You'll Do
- →In support of FHFA's mission and the Director's responsibilities as a member of the Federal Housing Finance Oversight Board, the Financial Stability Oversight Board, and the Financial Stability Oversight Council, the division also oversees and coordinates FHFA activities.
- →Such activities involve data analyses, market surveillance, systemic risk monitoring, and analysis affecting housing finance and financial markets.
- →Position Overview The Statistician/Senior Statistician will apply their expertise and skills to conduct tasks and projects related to the lifecycle of data, research, and analysis; and to lead production, dissemination, and promotion of accurate and reliable mortgage and housing data and statistics.
- →This role will demonstrate skills in research, analysis, assessment, programming, and data analytics with formal training in economics, statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- →The Statistician/Senior Statistician will work on the National Mortgage Database (NMDB) team in the Office of Data and Analysis (ODA) within DHMG.
- →The NMDB team produces the National Mortgage Database and the National Survey of Mortgage Originations (NSMO).
- →Major Duties & Responsibilities The Statistician/Senior Statistician duties listed below are at the EL-13 grade level.
- →Depending on the grade level selected, the incumbent will perform the following duties with varying levels of supervision and difficulty: Perform various aspects of the lifecycle of data: design, development, collection, storage, production, validation, management, maintenance, documentation, dissemination, usage, and user support.
- →Conduct primary and/or secondary data collection of administrative and survey data, including mortgage, borrower, and property data.
- →Conduct research, analysis, assessment, modeling, and programming to improve production and dissemination of housing and mortgage data and statistics.
- →Monitor developments in data and quantitative methods and industry best practices in economics, statistics, housing finance, and credit, financial, and regulatory reporting to improve and further develop data production and dissemination.
- →Conduct validation and quality assessment of data to produce and disseminate accurate and reliable data and statistics.
- →Write and disseminate technical documentation, technical reports, statistical blogs, analytical insights, or research papers, including internal and external presentations.
- →Provide technical information and briefings to peers and senior staff in the agency, regulated entities, industry groups, and the public.
