This position is located in the Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy, Office of Data and Research (ODR). ODR ensures that drug policy across the government is based on the latest research, data, and evidence. The Office works closely with other components to inform their approach to policymaking, and with the Interagency Performance Branch to evaluate progress on drug policy. Promotion to the next highest grade level is neither guaranteed nor implied.
What You'll Do
- →Collects, compiles, analyzes statistical data, and develops measures and performance reports to track the overall performance of the National Drug Control Strategy.
- →Provides professional consultation and guidance in the application of statistical techniques and methods,and evaluates the adequacy and statistical limitations of existing drug data systems.
- →Develops and conducts rigorous research projects to fill knowledge gaps related to examining the relationships between the illicit drug supply, drug use patterns, drug treatment, and associated health outcomes.
- →Collaborates with staff at ONDCP and others as needed.
- →Writes articles and reports for publication in scientific and technical journals, for presentation at national and international meetings of professional groups, and for inclusion in briefing documents and other reports.
Requirements
- ✓Combination of education and experience: Courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- ✓The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.
