About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

What You'll Do

  • This psychologist will join one of our outpatient Behavioral Health Interprofessional Program (BHIP) teams as both a psychotherapist and a team co-leader.
  • The BHIP teams are general mental health teams and include psychotherapists, psychiatrists, nurses, social work, and clerks, and collaboratively treat Veterans with a range of diagnoses.
  • This position will also supervise the team psychologists.
  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include, but not limited to: Clinical Responsibilities (70% of time) Provides a full range of psychodiagnostic services including assessment and uses the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care.
  • Performs evaluations for patients with a variety of psychological and neuropsychological disorders.
  • Provides education to patients, family members and significant others.
  • Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including: individual, group, couple and family psychotherapy.
  • Provides consultation to professional staff within CMC VAMC system and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans.
  • Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity/openness to significance of diversity and cultural issues.
  • Functions independently as a member of the CMC VAMC Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges.
  • Assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation.
  • Supervision (10% of time) Responsibilities span supervision (direct and indirect) of psychotherapists within the BHIP team.
  • Directly supervisees the BHIP team psychologists.
