About the Role
This full-time Health Psychologist will work within Specialty Medicine Clinics to assist in the delivery of evidence-based care for patients with comorbid biomedical and mental health diagnoses. S/he will be responsible for supporting integrated care by being an integral member of an interdisciplinary treatment team by providing behavioral medicine interventions, psychotherapy, assessment, treatment recommendations, education and support, etc.

- →VA Careers - Psychologist: https://youtube.com/embed/77qHlLw9Xck Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Clinical Responsibilities Provides a range of evidence-based behavioral medicine/health psychology interventions, to include group and individual psychotherapy, as well as assessment and to Veterans with biomedical and comorbid mental health disorders.
- →Performs psychological evaluations for patients with biopsychosocial concerns throughout the facility, to include behavioral and mental health issues related to disease management.
- →Evaluations will include chart review and psychological testing/interviewing techniques as determined by the clinician.
- →Contributes to Health Psychology, Behavioral Medicine and Behavioral Health programming through the facility (e.g.
- →Shared Medical Appointments).
- →Consults and liaisons with Specialty Medicine, Primary Care, and Behavioral Health staff on a wide variety of patient care issues in the area of Health Psychology.
- →S/He must develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Specialty Medicine and Behavioral Health staff and supervisors.
- →Demonstrates competency in a least one evidence-based psychotherapy such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as appropriate for the treatment of behavioral medicine conditions.
- →Staff psychologists may be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities.
- →Enriching Elements May hold faculty appointment at an affiliated university.
- →May provide training opportunities to various disciplines (PA students, Psychiatry Residents, Family Practice Residents, and Nursing Students).
- →May be involved in the Psychology Training Program and Training Committee.
- →Provides consultation to staff on units to which assigned.
- →Serves as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees and assist in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding their patients (mostly in Mental Health).
