What You'll Do

  • You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
  • Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.
  • Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

  • Duties include, but are not limited to: Providing care coordination and monitoring services for Veterans at high risk for suicide, including managing High Risk for Suicide Patient Record Flags and REACH Vet responsibilities.
  • Supporting data-driven quality improvement projects related to suicide prevention procedures along with policy implementation for suicide prevention initiatives across VALBHS.
  • Monitoring facility-wide adherence with suicide prevention standards for key performance measures.
  • Analyzing data, preparing reports, and providing consultation on a range of suicide prevention topics.
  • Supporting external facility surveys for quality and regulatory compliance related to suicide prevention standards.
  • Participating in the Suicide Postvention Team to ensure a coordinated response for Veterans, families, and staff impacted by suicide deaths.
  • Conducting community outreach, including providing educational presentations in the community, participating in community outreach events, and supporting community coalition efforts for suicide prevention.
  • Providing a full range of psychological assessment and diagnostic services, including comprehensive suicide risk evaluations.
  • Providing a full range of individual and/or group evidence-based psychotherapeutic services, including safety planning intervention, lethal means safety counseling, crisis response, and other interventions to support suicide prevention.
