About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

What You'll Do

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The psychologist is considered qualified through experience and training to provide diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental and physical health disorders, especially in relation to behavior.
  • The psychologist is responsible for the evaluation, treatment and management of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) defined mental disorders, referral for consultative services to other VA specialists.
  • Duties include but not limited to: Clinical: 1.
  • Diagnostic clinical interview and/or systematic behavioral observation. 2.
  • Establish a diagnosis according to criteria in the current version of the DSM/International Classification of Diseases (ICD). 3.
  • Document assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes according to applicable accrediting body standards [i.e., Joint Commission, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)]. 4.
  • May provide case management, support, and/or consultation regarding admission, diagnosis, treatment planning, discharge planning, and follow-up. 5.
  • Individual and/or group psychometric testing and interpretation, encompassing: Emotional symptoms and/or behavioral functioning testing Objective and/or projective personality and psychopathological syndrome assessment Intellectual testing and/or academic screening Cognitive screening 6.
  • Perform the following interventions to individuals, couples, families, and/or groups: Crisis intervention Evidence-based psychotherapy Other talk-based modalities, e.g., supportive therapy, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation.
  • Low-risk, unregulated interventions/recommendations for which there is sufficient evidence of benefit in DSM/ICD-defined diagnosis, e.g., essential oils, bibliotherapy, cognitive activity scheduling, importance of adopting a healthy diet and engaging in exercise. 7.
  • Telehealth based assessment, treatment, and management of mental disorders. 8.
  • Planning, directing, reviewing, and supervising the provision of psychological.
  • Administrative: Participate fully in peer review, assessing the quality of professional psychology standards provided in the organization. 1.
  • Identify patient problems requiring consultation with other multi-disciplinary medical center staff and making appropriate referrals. 2.
