About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

What You'll Do

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional This position is located at the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center, providing psychological services to Veterans engaged in residential treatment for substance use or other addiction behavior.
  • Services are delivered to Veterans who are admitted to MHRRTP for recovery-oriented learning, education and therapy.
  • Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Using therapeutic techniques of clinical interviews, supportive therapy techniques, evidence-based therapy models, psychological testing and observation.
  • Assessing intelligence, behavior and personality variables to develop diagnoses and treatment recommendations and plans.
  • Plays a major role in the development of differential diagnosis of functional and organic disorders as they relate to addiction and mental health disorders.
  • Provides verbal feedback to Veterans, family, caregivers, guardians and interdisciplinary treatment team members on assessment and/or screening results, testing results, diagnosis and recommendations for treatment.
  • Writes clear, concise reports and documentation in response to consultation requests and ongoing treatment.
  • Contributes professionally and educationally to medical students, residents, psychology interns, or other professionals working within the residential treatment milieu and works as a key treatment team member providing comprehensive psychological care for Veterans engaged in residential care.
  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 am. to 4:30 pm.
