About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

  • VA Careers - Psychologist: https://youtube.com/embed/77qHlLw9Xck Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conduct thorough psychological evaluations, including diagnostic interviews, gathering psychosocial histories, using specialized tools like the CAPS, and performing psychodiagnostics tests.
  • Provide psychotherapy for individuals, groups, couples, and families with evidence-based approaches such as Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Written Exposure Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, among other proven PTSD interventions.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop personalized treatment plans, adjusting strategies using Measurement-Based Care principles.
  • Handle crisis intervention and suicide prevention, addressing urgent mental health needs as they arise.
  • Monitor patient progress, revise treatment plans as needed, document clinical services, and ensure timely completion of required charting within Federal Electronic Health Record.
  • Offer expert consultation to medical center staff and community providers on assessments, treatment options, behavior management, and coordinating care.
  • Join multidisciplinary team meetings to assist with case formulations, treatment planning, and program effectiveness reviews.
  • Foster a therapeutic environment in the RRTP by promoting recovery-oriented care and supporting trauma-informed practices among staff.
  • Provide training and supervision for psychology trainees, interns, residents, and other healthcare learners within licensure and privilege constraints.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialty programs, community resources, and interdisciplinary teams to support veterans' recovery and reintegration.
  • Participate in administrative duties such as workload entry, attending staff meetings, mandatory trainings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • May also take part in research or program evaluation activities, following VA policies and obtaining necessary approval from service leadership.
  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized.
  • Additional approvals are required EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
