About the Role
This position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (HVAMC), under the Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences Service Line (MHBS). This position is aligned in the Long Term Care Program, under Urgent and Emergent Stabilization Services and provides services to Geriatric and Extended Care (GEC).
What You'll Do
- →VA Careers - Psychologist: https://youtube.com/embed/77qHlLw9Xck Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The CLC Psychologist works primarily in the Community Living Center (CLC) unit.
- →The clinical psychologist provides psychodiagnostics assessments, acute crisis intervention, brief individual therapy, group therapy, program development/ implementation (Behavioral Recovery Outreach (BRO) and STAR-VA), as well as other psychological services.
- →Many of the above services, are also provided to patients within the Hospice Program.
- →The clinical psychologist will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team to include psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, social workers, nurses, medical providers, and other disciplines.
- →Major duties include, but not limited to the following: Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic and psychotherapy services and uses the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care.
- →Performs psychological evaluations for patients on units to which the psychologist is assigned to provide coverage.
- →Provides education and consultation to internal/external stakeholders with respect to coordinated care/treatment planning within the BRO Program.
- →Develops, implements, and documents the mental health treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, as indicated and appropriate for the specific job setting and duties of the psychologist.
- →Adheres to all Facility and Service Line policies and practices for delivering clinical care and assessment, including but not limited to risk assessment and reduction practices for potentially dangerous behavior (suicide and violence), timeliness of care and access standard, professional conduct requirements, and CPRS documentation conventions.
- →Achieves minimal clinical workload expectations as established by the Service Line.
