About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

What You'll Do

  • This position is at the full performance level for staff psychologists.
  • At this level, psychologists are licensed to practice independently in the provision of psychological services, consulting with peers and supervisors as appropriate.
  • This position is assigned to a Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Team within the Mental Health Service Line.
  • The BHIP Psychologist provides comprehensive psychotherapeutic and diagnostic services for Veterans with a broad range of psychopathology receiving care within the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Team.
  • Psychologists diagnose mental health disorders, conduct psychological and/or neuropsychological assessments, treat mental health disorders through a variety of modalities, and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders.
  • Among the modalities provided are individual, family, and group psychotherapies, with a special focus on evidence-based practices, utilization of measurement-based care, and timely completion of treatment plans that reflect recovery-oriented treatment.
  • The BHIP Psychologist complies with all Mental Health Service Line documentation requirements, including standards for timely completion of CPRS patient contact notes, use of required documentation templates, clinical reminders, measurement-based care, treatment plans, and risk assessment protocols.
  • BHIP Psychologists are part of an interprofessional team providing collaborative and coordinated care for Veterans.
  • Psychologists consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues.
  • Staff Psychologists are involved in the Psychology Internship Program either through didactic presentations and/or supervision of an Intern.
