About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Staff Psychologist in Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP), serves in the Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences (MHBS) Service Line of the Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System (NAVAHCS).
  • The incumbent plays a central role in the ongoing BHIP team consultation and coordination, to triage and distribute mental health consultation and treatment requests, including those made directly by Veterans.
  • The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Coordinates of patient care within the BHIP, to maximize timely access to the most appropriate level of care to include Triage, disposition, and coordination of treatment referrals to BHIP from other MHBS programs, other departments across the facility, and from other VA's.
  • Organizes and directs the administrative, operational, and patient care activities, along with performing and being guided by outcome evaluation data to maximize access to care and identify possible barriers to care.
  • Provides clinical and consultation services including performing psycho-diagnostic and cognitive screening evaluations for Veterans, in crisis and non-crisis situations.
  • Provides clinical supervision and/or consultation to various disciplines and levels of training, and may be involved in Psychology Training Program, Training Committee, and supervising trainees.
  • Serves on Medical Center or Healthcare System, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces.
  • Represents psychology on decision-making committees at the Medical Center or Healthcare System, and at professional/program community group/events and committees.
  • Participates in leadership roles on local, state and national professional organizations as necessary.
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): May be authorized to highly qualified candidates.
