About the Role

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will apply expert knowledge of data science and quantitative analytical methods to organize, analyze, interpret, and derive meaningful insight from structured and unstructured data in support of real-world problem solving. Location of position: Federal Acquisition Service (FAS), Office of Acquisition Solution Development. We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

What You'll Do

  • Leverages data tools, programming skills, and data visualization and advanced analytic techniques to support the mission.
  • Constructs data pipelines using Structured Query Language (SQL) and data/database scaling techniques to handle data at scale.
  • Analyzes extremely large, unstructured, and/or complex data sets, elements, systems, flows, dependencies, and relationships to build conceptual, physical, and logical data models.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for developing new methods to automate reports, develop predictive models, and analyze trends in collaboration with other IT Category offices, FAS, GSA, and agency partners/stakeholders.
  • Translates complex business logic, analytic findings, and data limitations into concise, plain language.
  • Closely ties findings and conclusions into the employing office and higher-echelon organizational mission, original problem statements, and project objectives.

Requirements

  • If selected, you must meet the following conditions: Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
  • If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C or Non­Career SES employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the HR Office.
  • Failure to disclose this information could result in disciplinary action including removal from Federal Service.
  • Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 4 investigation level).
  • Complete a financial disclosure report to verify that no conflict, or an appearance of conflict, exists between your financial interest and this position.
  • Serve a one year probationary period, if required.
  • Note: If you are using foreign education to meet qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education.
