About the Role
Northern Arizona VA Health Care System is looking for a Nursing Assistant to join the Geriatrics and Extended Care Community Living Center team!
What You'll Do
- →The duties of the position include, but are not limited to: Demonstrates knowledge of geriatric care to participate in a restorative/rehabilitative plan of care.
- →Performs care according the CLC Restorative Care Program: Bowel and Bladder toileting, Bed Mobility, Ambulation and Transfers,ADL, Amputation and Prosthetic Care, ROM, Splint and Brace Care, and Restorative Dining.
- →Carries out the restorative services according to the plan of care using interventions that assist or promote the Veteran's ability toattain his or her maximum functional potential and using a safe manner.
- →Performs active and passive range of motion.
- →Provides assistance using verbal and physical guidance and direction that teaches the Veteran how to apply or applies the splint/brace as needed with verbal cues to Veteran and monitoring skin before donning/doffing.
- →Identifies and performs proper transfer procedures using appropriate techniques, body mechanics, and equipment.
- →Ambulates Veteran using appropriate bed mobility assist, sit/stand, and assistive device as appropriate.
- →Assists and monitors assessed needs and follows interventions for restorative dining.
- →Provides education and or assistance with amputation or newly acquired prosthetics.
- →Encourages Veteran self-care with ADLs.
- →Work Schedule: Full time.
- →This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as this is a 24/7 hospital.
- →Some positions require rotation of tours or indefinite work on non-administrative tours as established by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements
