About the Role
As the Specialty Care Outpatient Staff Registered Nurse (Float) you will execute position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex specialty care. This position will be at Audie Murphy.
What You'll Do
- →The Registered Nurse Float (Specialty Care Outpatient Staff) provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management.
- →Individuals in these positions collaborate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
- →They demonstrate performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for specialty care outpatients.
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Providing peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement.
- →Supporting colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality specialty nursing care.
- →Fostering a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals.
- →Recognizing the signs of potential or active disruptive behavior and quickly intervenes with appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- →Evaluating outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations.
- →Documenting outcomes at the specialty care program or service level, etc.
- →Specialty care program or service level outcomes are broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), or Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) must be fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission On Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
