About the Role
The Resource Pool/Float Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care to multiple areas of nursing. The focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in multiple care units.
What You'll Do
- →Resource Pool/Float Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care to multiple areas of nursing.
- →The focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction.
- →Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in multiple care units.
- →The nurse brings principles and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills.
- →Includes other duties but are not limited to: Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in multiple care units.
- →Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs and specific care of the patients served in the assigned area of practice.
- →Ability to formulate a plan of care based on nursing assessments.
- →Seeks guidance in how to improve care provided to patients and families.
- →Delegates elements of care to the appropriate individual based upon assessed needs, condition, and safety of the patient.
- →The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization.
- →Practice includes directing other providers.
- →Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in multiple care units.
- →Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs and specific care of the patients served in the assigned area of practice.
- →Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
