About the Role
The LTC Charles S. Kettles VA Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) - for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) aligned under Inpatient Nursing Service for Medical/Surgical and Critical Care. Preferred Experience: 2 years ICU experience
What You'll Do
- →The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Demonstrate proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning.
- →Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations.
- →Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- →Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- →Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
- →Duties Include, but are not limited to: Assists in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and enhance outcomes utilization.
- →Provides competent, evidence-based care to patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting.
- →Provides direct care for acutely/critically ill patients who are at high risk for actual or potential life-threatening health problems, regardless of the setting for nursing care.
- →Provides high intensity care and vigilance while refining assessment skills and blending in data obtained from a variety of invasive/noninvasive monitoring technology.
- →Validates understanding of the rationale for care processes and decisions.
- →Demonstrates knowledge base of the nursing process in the care of assigned patients.
- →Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care.
- →Demonstrates the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities.
- →Demonstrates competence in practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, integrating theoretical concepts, critical thinking skills, and technically skilled practice.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
