About the Role
The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is a registered Nurse (RN) who manages & coordinates care of patients in Surgical Care Clinics & the facility at large. They are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, & evaluating direct & indirect nursing care. The CRN is accountable for care, focused on patient transition throughout the continuum of care, patient & family education, patient self-management upon discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do
- →Major Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible & accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
- →Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- →Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level.
- →Shows leadership in improving patient care and helps to enhance staff education and professional development using evidence-based practice.
- →Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
- →Utilizes proficient level knowledge and skills at the microsystem level to improve patient outcomes.
- →Assesses and evaluates patient care processes for effectiveness; initiating and changing when indicated.
- →Follows and monitors staff compliance with safe work practice and procedures and provides education and re-direction where needed.
- →Access and direct staffing if needed in the assigned areas.
- →Identify and promote process changes within the service line.
- →Leads the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice Improves Veteran/patient driven care by resolving experience issues such as coordination of care, timeliness or process issues, common themes of dissatisfaction, or environment of care concerns for the immediate practice setting.
- →Demonstrates the ability to improve the effectiveness of communications and interactions with others, to inspire their cooperation and confidence to ensure safe and effective outcomes in the current practice setting.
- →Expands knowledge base and practice evaluation through mentoring, precepting, and/or teaching to improve outcomes in the immediate practice setting.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
