About the Role
This nurse manager position serves as a Community Living Center Nurse Manager overseeing the CLC Geriatrics and Rehabilitation units. The Nurse Manager is the designated first line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other nurse managers as needed. Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care.
What You'll Do
- →Position serves as Community Living Center Nurse Manager and is the primary leader responsible for CLC Geriatrics and CLC Rehabilitation and their outcomes.
- →Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care.
- →Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- →Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and creating innovative process improvement initiatives.
- →Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in the unit/program level quality improvement process and initiatives as well as customer service programs.
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed.
- →Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.
- →Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
- →Enhances care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.
- →Equips staff with tools for competent care and promotes an environment of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
- →Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
- →The NM engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.
- →Promotes alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence.
- →Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable patient care.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
