About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →The Dedicated Charge Nurse, Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) duties include, but are not limited to the following: The primary purpose of the dedicated charge registered nurse is to function as a frontline leader within Veterans Affairs North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS) to maintain responsibility for the operations of the nursing unit.
- →Demonstrates leadership in the application of the nursing process as it relates to clinical practice, teaching, leading staff, managing operational processes, and ensuring that patient needs are met.
- →Collaboratively with the nurse manager in clinical and administrative duties such as delegating unit and patient care responsibilities, holding others accountable for providing safe patient care, providing input in monitoring and measuring staff performance, and collaborating with other health care and service providers to deliver safe and effective patient-centered care.
- →Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
- →Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
- →Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction.
- →Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, clause, and previous experiences.
- →Provides patient care and assessment, administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- →Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
- →Uses word processing software to execute several office automation functions such as storing and retrieving electronic documents and files; inserting and deleting text, formatting letters, reports, and memoranda; and transmitting and receiving email.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
