- →Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Lead day-to-day clinical and operational activities of the assigned unit, ensuring safe, efficient, and effective delivery of Veteran-centered care.
- →Coordinate staffing resources, manage scheduling needs, address staffing shortages, and support workforce planning to maintain optimal patient care operations.
- →Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to identify Veteran care needs, remove barriers to care, and improve clinical outcomes.
- →Mentor and develop nursing staff through coaching, education, orientation support, competency development, and ongoing professional growth opportunities.
- →Promote quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, and evidence-based practice initiatives to enhance care delivery and organizational performance.
- →Monitor and evaluate unit performance measures, participate in audits and accreditation readiness activities, and implement actions that strengthen quality outcomes.
- →Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and succession planning efforts to build and sustain a highly engaged nursing workforce.
- →Serve as a nursing leadership resource by assisting with administrative operations, resolving staff concerns, facilitating communication, and helping ensure compliance with healthcare standards and organizational priorities.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
