About the Role
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and accountability for the 24/7 operations of their designated units at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. A Gainesville Assistant Nurse Manager vacancy exists for an experienced RN interested in working in a leadership role in the Emergency Room Department.
What You'll Do
- →The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a registered professional nurse responsible for assessment, planning, provision, and evaluation of nursing services in specified area(s).
- →Functions or scope of assigned duties include, but are not limited to: Leads interdisciplinary problem solving at the area and /or program level.
- →Mentors less experienced nurses, other RNs in expanded roles, and/or students.
- →Ensures that, within the scope of duties, confidential information is at all times safeguarded.
- →Participates in the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.
- →Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- →Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution.
- →Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- →Seeks knowledge from professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.
- →Equips staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
- →Directs and organizes patient flow in the assigned area.
- →Maintains unit schedule.
- →Grants leave for staff.
- →Coordinates the provision of care.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
- ✓As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 2-year probationary period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
