Psychologist - PTSD Clinical Team

About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →The incumbent will be assigned to work in the PCT in our outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
- →The incumbent will provide assessment; group, and individual psychotherapy; and consultation services for veterans with a wide range of mental health diagnoses.
- →Training and experience with evidence-based psychotherapies (e.g., PE, CPT, STAIR, ACT, WET, etc.) and working with patients with complex psychiatric presentations, including those with elevated risk for suicide, is required.
- →Experience and interest in participating in our Women's Trauma Program is strongly preferred.
- →Additional expectations include supervision of psychology trainees and the provision of seminars and didactics.
- →Major Duties and Responsibilities: Works as a staff member within PCT, providing various assessments and therapies for Veterans with a wide range of mental and behavioral health diagnoses and symptoms.
- →Provides a full range of services including, but not limited to, comprehensive PTSD assessments, and use of the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques to provide quality care to a wide range of patient populations, including specific patient groups and service eras.
- →Provides assessment and treatment services in a full continuum of clinical settings and modalities to include individual and group therapy, video telehealth, and face-to-face care formats.
- →Utilizes evidence-based treatments for a full range of patient populations and psychiatric conditions covered in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, 5th Edition (DSM-V).
- →Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients with the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
- →Conducts suicide risk screenings, risk assessments, safety plans, behavior reports, and other processes relevant to suicide prevention standards.
- →Participates in treatment team meetings to recommend and review treatment plans.
- →Provides education to patients, family members, and significant others as needed.
- →Functions independently as a member of the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges.
