About the Role
The Buffalo VA Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to work in the Urology Department
What You'll Do
- →Duties include, but are not limited to: Performs and documents initial & interim histories and physical exams.
- →Initiate health promotion and disease prevention activities including health education and counseling and use of prescribed treatments.
- →Orders diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, x-rays, EKGs, etc.
- →Initiates requests for consultations, prosthetics and (non-med) treatments.
- →Prescribes and orders medications including controlled and non-controlled substances.
- →Admits, transfers and discharges patients.
- →Provides pre-op medical evaluation.
- →Provides ongoing care for hospitalized patients including documenting progress and discharge summaries in CPRS and notifying the responsible attending physician of significant changes.
- →Provides outpatient care for assigned patients including interpretation of INR, adjustment of warfarin dose and document procedures for which PA is responsible (Coumadin and/or Cardiology Clinic).
- →Obtain informed consents for Invasive, radiographic, and surgical procedures and blood transfusions.
- →Performs EKG and Pulse Oximetry.
- →Precepts Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant students.
- →Administers topical/local anesthesia Applies dressing and bandages Performs suture and suture removal Small wound closure with sutures/steri-strips Performs incision and drainage Inserts foley catheters Removes foreign bodies Assists in Robotic procedures Subcutaneous injections VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
- →Work Schedule: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
