Serves as Lead Advanced Practice Provider, Emergency Medicine Service, with primary responsibility for administrative, programmatic, and clinical leadership delivery of emergency care at the Fayetteville VAMC ED. The incumbent reports to the Deputy Chief of Emergency Medicine Service for all clinical, administrative, and quality performance matters.
What You'll Do
- →Administrative Responsibilities (40%) 1.
- →Responsible for hands on clinical work, oversight, and administration of all aspects of the advanced practitioner emergency provider services, including research programs and guidance and training for medical residents and other trainees. 2.
- →Directly accountable to the Emergency Department Deputy Chief for day-to-day administrative and clinical activities of the service and overall compliance to VISN wide policies and procedures. 3.
- →Acts as a key liaison between Emergency Room staff and hospital administration, ensuring seamless emergency department operations. 4.
- →Provides mentorship and leadership to staff within the service, ensuring that they have access to continued education, career advancement, and leadership opportunities. 5.
- →Develops policies and procedures that enhance the utilization and integration of staff in emergency medicine workflows. 6.
- →Advocates for optimal staffing models, ensuring adequate coverage, work-life balance, and equitable shift distribution for staff. 7.
- →Assists with performance reviews, professional development planning, and pay-for performance assessments of staff in the department. 8.
- →Plays an active role in provider recruitment and retention of staff, ensuring that highly skilled, committed providers are brought into and retained within the department. b.
- →Clinical Responsibilities (60%) 1.
- →Provides high-level, autonomous patient-centered care to all individuals presenting to the Emergency Department, ensuring rapid evaluation and management of undifferentiated acute conditions. 2.
- →Functions at the top of the PA scope, practicing under established VA and facility policies while maintaining close collaboration with attending emergency physicians if or when needed. 3.
- →Academic/Teaching/Training.
- →Will participate in the education of residents, fellows, and students, when applicable and needed.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
