About the Role

These are TEMPORARY, INTERMITTENT positions located in Bureau of Medical Services, Office of Clinical Programs. The incumbent serves as a Physician Assistant responsible for filling medical positions at overseas posts or domestically when there are staffing shortages or extended staffing gaps by assuming the role of a primary care provider and is responsible for providing a full range of primary, preventative, and emergency medical services.

What You'll Do

  • Provide primary and preventive health care services across the lifespan.
  • Obtains the patient history, performs physical assessments to include diagnosis and treatment, emergency and acute care services.
  • Manage health unit personnel and resources, inventory of supplies, provides training, maintains budget and medical records and facilitate emergency visitation travel.
  • Collaborates with local, international healthcare providers and experts to deliver services, implement emergency actions and performs as occupational health advisor.
  • Interpret and revise policies and procedures relating to emergency preparedness, counter-terrorism, emergency action plans, and medical training.
  • Maintain health records, provide infectious disease prevention, CPR and first aid training.

  • Temporary employees are generally eligible to enroll in the Federal Employees Health Benefit Program if they are expected to work 130 hours per month or more for at least 90 days, in accordance with 5 CFR 890.102.
