About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

What You'll Do

  • VA Careers - Physical Therapy: https://youtube.com/embed/Gi2hoFqIoqY Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties include but are not limited to the following: Clinical: 1) Ability to make autonomous clinical decisions in an Inpatient/Outpatient Physical Therapy environment.
  • Skilled in performing examinations and evaluations of individuals who have or may develop impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions related to conditions of the musculoskeletal neuromuscular, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and/or integumentary systems while considering the effects attributable to unique psychosocial and environmental factors.
  • Ability to interpret findings from examination and evaluation, select appropriate test and measures, and integrate findings into the physical therapy plan of care for the full range of patient populations.
  • Ability to establish a diagnosis within the scope of physical therapy and identify the appropriate rehabilitation intervention, including referral to another provider for further consultation as clinically indicated.
  • Consultation with more experienced therapists for specific condition or treatment approached is expected and appropriate.
  • Ability to determine physical therapy prognosis by incorporating examination findings with the patient's preferences for meaningful level of function in order to set clinically appropriate treatment goals, optimize outcomes and maximize functional independence.
  • Select appropriate equipment needed for treatment, to substitute for loss of function or to substitute for limited function of individuals where course of care requires adaptation or full restoration of function cannot be achieved.
  • Recognizes adverse reaction to treatment and initiates effective action immediately.
  • Education: 1) Provides orientation, training and acts as resource to staff as subject matter experts. 2) Provides or assists in clinical training programs and supervision of physical therapy/physical therapist assistant students.
  • Professional/ Administrative 1) Maintains documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory bodies' requirements. 2) Assures that timely Return-to-clinic orders are used utilizing the most current form/program. 3) Maintains patient records, equipment orders and submits other data (i.e.
  • FIM, billing/coding, MDS) as required by section, service and medical center.
  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Compressed/Flexible: May be available.
