About the Role
This position is located in the Maintenance and Repair Unit, Facilities and Engineering Service of the Wilmington VA Medical Center (WVAMC) and reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. The incumbent performs maintenance, repairs, applications and installations associated with the painting trade throughout the medical center.
What You'll Do
- →Prepares coating materials by tinting, toning, matching, blending, and mixing in various additives, applies coating materials with any of the accepted trade devices including those designed to give special effects, for example, brushes, rollers, spray guns, and graining devices.
- →Ensures that the coating finish meets match, texture, decorative, thickness, and level requirements, check such things as viscosity of coating materials and thickness of coatings on surfaces.
- →Adds various agents (for example, retardants, drying agents), and combine coating mixtures to get the proper color, texture, consistency, and drying state.
- →Coverings on plastered walls, metal and wood surfaces, roads, parking lots, furniture, small patching needs and equipment, after proper surface preparation, to insure good adhesion.
- →Perform general labor duties as directed by the supervisor.
- →Performs other related duties as assigned.
