About the Role
The Painter Helper position is to perform work that includes applying coating materials on wood, metal, glass, synthetic, concrete, and other surfaces.
What You'll Do
- →Duties are to include but are not limited: Cleans work areas and keeps work benches clean and orderly and tools and machines lubricated.
- →Assists journey worker in preparing surfaces for coating materials.
- →Carries and holds materials in place during operations Gets tools, supplies, and materials to assist in applying coating materials to offices, wards, corridors, dining halls, living quarters, and shop buildings.
- →Ability to take instructions from journey worker performing duties common to the trade.
- →Performs other related duties as assigned.
- →Works safely in areas where certain potentially harmful physical and/or chemical agents are present such as in research labs Must be able to wear protective clothing Climbs ladders, scaffolds, stoops, bends, kneels, stands for long periods of time, while working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- →Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Painter Helper/PD41351A Physical Requirements: The position requires the employee to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- →The employee frequently lifts and carries materials.
- →The work is done inside and outside, and dirt, spray, and fumes are usually present.
- →The employee sometimes works outside in bad weather.
- →The employee may be required to wear protective clothing.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation.
