This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →Functions: 1.
- →Conducts comprehensive assessments of functional and occupational roles using standardized and non-standardized evaluation tools. 2.
- →Uses clinical reasoning, and creativity to solve problems related to adapting and modifying assessments, treatment plans, activities and procedures to meet the needs of the patient. 3.
- →Provides direct Occupational Therapy interventions and procedures varying in degrees of complexity to enhance safety, wellness, and performance in ADL, instrumental ADLs (IADL) education, work, play, leisure, and social participation. 4.
- →Demonstrates full professional understanding of the theories of treatment in occupational therapy and their proper application through the use of activity analysis, behavioral intervention, frame of references, and therapeutic procedures. 5.
- →Provides guidance to junior staff and occupational therapy assistants as needed. 6.
- →Provides clinical training experiences for occupational therapy students. 7.
- →Participates in, provides and organizes department in-service training as needed. 8.
- →Provides caregiver/client education to clients and their families.
- →Provides clients and their families with counseling, education, information and training regarding the nature of their disease or disability, a treatment plan and goals, and home program.
- →This is accomplished individually or with the interdisciplinary team, family, and client. 9.
- →Assists OT Supervisor in the development and maintaining of complex/advanced treatment programs and/or clinics, as appropriate. 10.
- →Works closely with the interdisciplinary team in the planning and implementation of the client's treatment program. 11.
- →Procures, fabricates, adjusts, adapts, and modifies orthoses, splits, and adaptive equipment for activities of daily living (inclusive of durable medical equipment). 12.
