About the Role
The Charles George VAMC is currently recruiting for one (1) full-time Nursing Assistant in VALOR Hospice. This position is responsible for providing end of life care to patients. The purpose of the work is to provide nursing care that covers personal care, diagnostic support procedures, treatment procedures, patient charting and reinforcing patient teaching.
What You'll Do
- →Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties and Responsibilities: If selected, you will perform care as delegated by a Registered Nurse to Veterans within the unit and medical center.
- →You will perform work in assisting other medical personnel in the care or treatment of patients who are receiving end of life care.
- →Your basic responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): Performing patient care and comfort measures addressing patient's bio psychosocial needs, personal hygiene, physical comfort, nutrition, hydration, rehabilitation, and safety.
- →Honoring Veteran choice and promoting home like environment.
- →Recognizing maladaptive behaviors and deescalating situations.
- →Assisting doctors and nurses in the performing diagnostic examinations.
- →Properly documenting all aspects of care in computerized records.
- →Using lift equipment to assist patients in getting in and out of bed.
- →Reporting abnormalities to appropriate personnel.
- →Recognizing emergency situations and intervening within your scope of practice, while waiting for assistance.
- →Communicating with people from various backgrounds and education levels.
- →Engaging in therapeutic and appropriate diversional activities.
- →Performing as a sitter to observe Veterans when necessary for fall reduction and risk of harm to self/others.
- →Performing post-mortem care.
Requirements
