About the Role
This position is located at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural ResearchServices (ARS), National Bio And Agro-Defense Facility located in Manhattan, KS. In this position, you will be providing technical and scientific support in the development of veterinary medical countermeasures; analyzing microbiological substances from microorganisms for biological development activities; and maintaining laboratory notebooks and documentation of procedures and findings.
What You'll Do
- →Derives and analyzes microbiological substances from microorganisms for biological development activities.
- →Determines the proper experimental approach which involve determining the materials, approaches and methods to use in the development of virus and cell banks.
- →Searches scientific literature for principles, methods, and procedures and participates in scientific meetings, workshops, and conferences to develop and introduce new techniques, procedures, and technologies.
- →Selects and carries out measurements and analyses by applying established or as required, modified methods; and performs nonstandard tests and assays.
- →Plans and makes recommendations on future needs of the laboratories such as new analytical instruments.
- →Uses methods in biological product development and the application of upstream and downstream manufacturing processes and product development.
- →Evaluates data and performs appropriate calculations and analyses, and analyzes the results according to principles of biological development in order to determine the optimal experimental approach to biological product testing.
- →Determines the best sampling and sample storage procedures based upon the stability of properties of substance and its medium.
Requirements
- ✓You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- ✓Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
