About the Position: This position is located in the Blood Division, Laboratory Department, Directorate of Clinical Support at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
What You'll Do
- →Receive patient's specimens of blood, urine, stool, microbiological and viral cultures, tissue, body fluids and cytological specimens.
- →Check that all specimens are properly and completely labeled.
- →Prepare specimens for analysis, ensuring that the physiologic properties are maintained.
- →Ensure timely distribution to laboratory sections of all specimens received.
- →Perform and calculate manual cell counts and properly identifies abnormal and normal blood cell populations.
- →Collect, test, and process donated blood into treatment specific components.
