The Medical Supply Technician (Quality Assurance) at the GS-7 position in the Sterile Processing Services Department (SPS) in the James A. Haley VA Hospital. The Quality Assurance Technician has expert knowledge of all areas in Sterile Processing including decontamination, preparation, assembly, sterilization, endoscope reprocessing, sterile storage, and distribution.
What You'll Do
- →Duties and responsibilities of the Medical Supply Tech (Sterile Processing) - Quality Assurance include, but are not limited to: Has expert knowledge of all areas with Sterile Processing to include decontamination, preparation and assembly, sterilization, endoscope reprocessing (if applicable), sterile storage and distribution.
- →Analyzes data and make recommendations to correct quality control problems.
- →Compiles information, evaluate facts, document findings, and prepare reports.
- →Monitors the process of cleaning/decontamination, sterilization, reprocessing, and distribution of critical and semi-critical RME (including the use of bacteriological controls, principles and methods of sterilization, packaging, and assembly).
- →Maintains a system of internal and external reviews ensuring overall compliance of all critical and semi-critical RME.
- →Tracks and analyzes required documentation.
- →Ensures SOPs, Policies, and SPS mandates are followed during the performance of workflow.
- →Assesses the quality and quantity of work by reviewing the cleaning, reprocessing, and distribution of technical medical equipment, material, and instrumentation.
- →Provides information to management officials concerning performance issues, assignment changes, task completion, and competency review.
- →Instructs employees on work-related activities, policies, procedures, and goals.
- →Utilizes advanced functions of instrument tracking system to manage RME throughout the facility and troubleshoots computer programs related to SPS operations.
- →Notifies staff with non-conformities regarding the input of data associated with the cleaning and sterilization of equipment, biological processing, and quality assurance programs.
- →Provides guidance to staff members with less experience.
- →Responsible for participating within unit based and/or organizational level Shared Governance councils, utilizing clinical expertise, evidence-based practice, and knowledge to assist with finding solutions to problems or issues to improve the quality care provided to our veterans.
