About the Role

Serves as a Medical Laboratory Aid in the Medical Laboratory at Gallup Indian Medical Center, Gallup, NM. Purpose of the position is to perform specific non-professional laboratory tasks in support of higher grade Medical Technicians and Technologists to meet the mission of the Clinical Laboratory. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

What You'll Do

  • Collect specimens using standard procedures, centrifuges specimens as instructed for serum/plasma preparation.
  • Log, label and prepare specimens for analysis, ensuring proper preservation such as refrigeration.
  • Files reports, retrieves archived specimens, and enters specimen data into Electronic Health Record.
  • Checks temperature logs and notifies senior staff of out-of-range readings.

Requirements

  • Citizenship is required Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children.
