You will serve as a MECHANICAL ENGINEER in the PROPULSION & POWER DIVISION within the PROPULSION & AUXILIARY MACHINERY SYSTEMS DEPT of NSWC PHILA DIV.
What You'll Do
- →You will be responsible for performing, integrating, and managing key projects in the Division’s In Service Engineering, and Life Cycle Management efforts, and integrating the Test and Evaluation, and Research and Development.
- →You will plan, formulate, organize and direct extensive technical activities to meet the Navy’s requirements for systems, equipment, development and in-service engineering programs concerning Main Reduction Gears and associated components.
- →You will advise on establishing direction and providing technical management of all aspects of special projects, and the development and implementation of technology and related initiatives.
- →You will propose, plan, direct, and manage a wide range of projects for the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of gear equipment and systems.
- →You will conduct and manage investigative and/or test efforts intended to advance state-of-the-art or improve operation and maintenance processes in order to improve gear life cycle.
- →You will study and investigate present and future performance requirements of cognizant equipment and systems in order to improve the performance of gears and related equipment.
- →You will plan, manage, and conduct specific facility and/or field experiments, analyze and interpret test results and data, and justify all recommendations for further research.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
